For clinicians and their IT teams
Using Confirm with a work or school calendar
Confirm can read session times from Google Calendar so clinicians do not have to type them in. Many employers and schools block outside apps from their Google calendars by default. This page explains what Confirm reads, how an IT administrator can allow it, and what a clinician can do in the meantime.
If you are a clinician and Google blocked the connection
- It is your organization's settingGoogle showed a message like "Access blocked" or "your admin needs to review this app" because your employer or school limits which apps can read work calendars. Nothing is wrong with your Confirm account.
- You can keep using Confirm todayConnect a personal Google calendar if your sessions are on it, take a photo of your planner or schedule, or log sessions by hand. Hours count the same way however they are entered.
- Ask IT to allow itSend your IT help desk or Google Workspace administrator a link to this page. The section below has everything they need.
For IT administrators: what Confirm is
Confirm is a web app that clinicians use to track their own supervised hours toward licensure and their continuing education. It is the clinician's personal licensure record. It is not an EHR and it has no field for a client's name, notes or diagnosis.
What Confirm reads from a calendar
- Read-only access to calendar eventsOne Google permission:
calendar.events.readonly. Confirm cannot create, change or delete anything in a calendar. - Only the date and time of matching events are keptThe clinician picks keywords, such as "individual" or "supervision". An event's title is checked against those keywords and then discarded. Confirm stores the date, the start and end time, the keyword that matched and Google's event ID.
- Never read or storedAttendees, locations, descriptions, video links and attachments. Events that match no keyword are not brought in at all.
- Verified by GoogleConfirm passed Google's OAuth verification for this permission.
- The clinician stays in controlThey can disconnect at any time, which deletes the stored Google credentials and any events still waiting for review.

Bringing Confirm to a whole site or program
When a practice, agency or graduate program adopts Confirm for its clinicians or students, allowing the app in Google Workspace is one of the first setup steps, and we walk your administrator through it. See Confirm for Sites and Schools, or tell us about your organization.
