- Diagnosis, assessment and treatment under the DSM-5: 6 hours
Limits
- Online / distance hours (live online or self-study): at most 20 hoursOnline courses capped at 20 hours.
- Self-study / non-interactive hours (self-study): at most 10 hoursHome study capped at 10 hours.
- Presentations (presenting or speaking, teaching a course): at most 10 hours
- Counseling received as a client: at most 10 hours
- Research (independent study or reading): at most 10 hours
- Peer supervision or case consultation: at most 10 hours
If you hold two licenses from this board
One course counts toward each license it fits. An LMFT who also holds an LPC may count the same hours for both licenses; 20 of the 40 must be in marriage and family therapy, which the LMFT license tracks.
