- Cultural diversity or competency: 3 hours
Limits
- Self-study / non-interactive hours (self-study): at most 1 hourIndependent self-study capped at one hour.
- Presenting, authoring, teaching or attending a graduate course: at most 5 hoursEach is capped at 5 hours; human-trafficking training at 1.
- Up to 10 hours carry over to the next cycleUp to 10 unused hours carry forward to the next renewal period.
- Same course counted once per cycleMultiple occurrences of the same activity may not be claimed in one renewal period.
Paperwork and other items
- Texas jurisprudence examPass the Texas jurisprudence examination each renewal period; passing counts as one ethics hour.
- Board-approved supervisors: 6 hours in supervisionOnly if you hold supervisor status.
Reporting your hours
The Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors (BHEC) uses CE Broker. The board requires it. Since January 1, 2026 the Behavioral Health Executive Council requires all licensees to report CE in CE Broker before they can renew. The Basic account is free. Confirm keeps your own record and certificates; it does not report to the board for you.
